Feed address planet kde-nl has changed.

Everyone who tracks the movements of the kde-nl people has noticed some errors in the feed lately.

I’ve changed the software from planetplanet to a parser from lylina. The frontend hooks into the database used by lylina.

The planet is mostly english and can be found here (you can see that the errors in apidox are increasing now) and the feed is here.

The change was done because of all those duplicate entries and entries which seem to popup every week, due to caching troubles.

RSIBreak 0.5.0-rc1

After hard work from Bram Schoenmakers and me, I’ve prepared a release candidate for RSIBreak. The main changes are:

  • Instead of a big break after x tiny breaks, the big break is now scheduled at x minutes.
  • Improved idle detection, if you dont touch your mouse/keyboard for one second, the timer wil also hold for a second.
  • dcop interface added for stopping/resuming RSIBreak
  • improved multihead setup: grab mouse and keyboard when slideshow is active, so you can not continue on another screen.
  • new tooltip code, which provides better and live information about the next big and tiny break

So, what is RSIBreak, you might want to know. Well it is a small utility which tries to prevent you from getting RSI. RSI stands for Repetitive Strain Injury and is a disease which is caused by repetitive movements of some muscles, for example working behind the computer. You can read a lot more at wikipedia

This utility tries to interrupt you in your work behind the computer, the trick is to get you away from the computer in a non-intrusive way, if it is an irritating utility people will be tempted to shut down the application.

You can try this release candidate by downloading the kubuntu dapper .deb or the source

Linux PDA anyone?

Does anybody know where to buy Linux/Open Source PDA’s in The Netherlands? Or is anyone able to ship them to me on a regular bases?

KIPI hackers wanted m/f

After some heated discussion, we decided to devide the kipi plugins to several developers. The kipi plugins are used in: digiKam, KPhotoAlbum, Showimg and Gwenview.

It consists of something like 20 plugins for those applications. We have found maintainers for most of them, but the following plugins are still without maintainer:

  • cdarchiving
Archive albums on CD or DVD using K3b.

  • jpeglossless
Batch process your JPEG images without losing meta information and compression.

  • mpegencoder
Create an MPEG slideshow from your images.

  • rawconverter
A raw image converter for digital cameras.

  • slideshow
Slideshow with effects ripped out from kslideshow and 3D effects using OpenGL.

So, if you interested in maintaining (ah, well, fixing bugs is more then enough) a relatively small piece of code, please mail to kde-imaging@kde.org
