4 minutes to fix a bug?
Wow. Boudewijn was able to fix a bug in 4 minutes. Is that an all time record? The summary only goes back 7 days….
And now for something totally unrelated:
- rsibreak has a new site, just needs some color (and a manual)
- Forms on internet are getting useless without captchas or other anti-spam rules.
- Public email addresses are getting spammed more and more. Spam-filter is essential.
- My health insurance returns money because I did not use it, a reason not to go this year either.
- Although Balkende promised nobody would loose money, more than 50% of the people have less to spend because of new health insurence system.
- If you rule an electricity company you can earn 800.000 euro a year
- Some people think that is realistic
- The price of electricity has quadrupled the last years.
- I have to get a permit from the city I live in, to attach a clock to a building
Maybe I should move to Belgium…
Captchas are really, really bad for the usability.
Logic puzzles are much better:

800,000 Euros is hardly anything compared to what executives in the US make. Of course, thats because our executives make waay too much money.
If the guy is a civil servant, then that would be a lot and newspaper articles would be written about it in the US as well.
This was two minutes. You can select the amount of time to query for. ;-)
http://bugs.kde.org/weekly-bug-summary.cgi?tops=100&days=30 will show the top 100 items (in every category) for the last 30 days.
yeah, it sucks to have less to spend compared to last year. but i don’t think many ppl have less to spend compared to 1990, and we didn’t die of hunger by then, did we?
so i couldn’t care less about all ppl complaining about having less to spend. in afrika, they die of hunger and thirst. we complain if we can buy less DVD’s.
Remember a few years ago, lebbes & jansen did their new-year talk, and they said the whole of the netherlands was in shock about losing 1% of income over 2002. back to the incomelevel of 2000!!! remember the hungerwinter of 2000??? Good joke, imho.
and about the 800.000, well, if he does a good job for that amount of money, i don’t care. i’d rather see him earn 800.000 and us having electricity than see him get fired, some loser get hired for 80.000 and poof – lights out. of course, not sure that would happen, but don’t underestimate the importance of the person-on-top, his impact on the overall company performance, and subsequent earnings thanx to him. its very well possible he earns it back 10-fold. we can’t know that, of course, but i hope those who choose him did that knowing it was worth it…
ow, the new rsibreak site is cool :D (nice clock)
BTW Belgium might not hold up to your expectations… you DO know a person gets judged for his position, not for what he is worth, there? i heard a few days ago from a teacher who lived in belgium for some time, she had to give everyone a hug when she came on her job in the morning. and she had to take into account their position: start with the boss and work your way down… took her some time to find out… i wouldn’t even think about going there!
It is just the feeling I have that our governement is gathering all the money that there is, and then trying to distribute that how they seem fit. Surely I feel I have to help the people who can not work, etc., but I do want keep some money to spend randomly, as I work hard for it. I hate the feeling where the governement thinks it can devide the money better.
Belgium was just a joke.
800.000 euro is way too much money for such a job. I work 50+ hours a week, under a lot of stress and I don’t think he is doing the same. I’m ok with the fact that he earns more then me, but lets keep it a bit more realistic, I mean ~65.000 euro a month is not realistic for the work he does.
Lets say the profit on electricity is 20%, I’m paying around 100 euro a month for my electricity, that’s 20 euro’s. That means that 3.250 people are needed, only to pay this mans salary.
Compare that to the supermarkets for poor people. It is just not right.
