And then your keyboard starts to work….
Sometimes I get surprised by software which you don’t know, never heard of before and when you try it, It Just Works…
In todays episode: KeyTouch
From the site:
KeyTouch is a program which allows you to easily configure the extra function keys of your keyboard. This means that you can define, for every individual function key, what to do if it is pressed.
It comes with two applications. First an application which asks for the type of keyboard you use. After you select one, you can easily define which key does what. That’s of course also possible within KDE, but I think this interface is much simpler.
Next to that there is an application which you can use when your keyboard is not listed. I remember going through all keyboards listed in KDE to get the one which matches my keys as close as possible. Well that’s not needed, it is easy to create your own keyboard within KeyTouch. Press the key, give it a name and connect it to an event and repeat that for every media key you have.
When you are done, the app asks permission to send the layout to the KeyTouch Author. Then you can select your layout and assign the actions you want to the keys. Great software.
Finally all my extra keyboard keys are working!
