KDE-PIM Meeting this Weekend

Cornelius just posted a message on the kde-pim mailinglist about the kdepim meeting this weekend in Germany. He asked me to come as well, and I’m looking forward to that.

I get some questions about Akonadi support for Mailody, I already said I would support that without even knowing into detail what Akonadi is all about. So my personal goals for the weekend are to read up on what it is all about, what it can bring for Mailody and see if I can get active in an area. Also I’m very interested in the storage part and the current state of it.

Also I’ve seen some faces on the dutch kde pim meeting last year (hmm, or was that the year before?) and some at fosdem last year (probably that was two years a go as well), so now is the time to getting to know them better.

I’ll drive up there tomorrow, time is very uncertain yet due to some server troubles at work, and leave saterday evening. An hour ago I noticed that my MIO Route navigation did not have the correct maps installed.

The software to install it only runs on MS Windows, and I was lucky that the laptop I borrowed for the weekend contained Windows and no password, so that is now happily transferring all maps. I can find the way in Greece as well in a few hours.
Instead of adding a map it only seems possible to replace a map. I first uploaded germany, but that made me loose The Netherlands, and there is no way to install two maps in one go, so now I’ve choosen to upload the ‘Eruope’ map, which is 1.6GB. *sigh*.

Anyhow, more reports will follow…. Exciting times.

  1. For your next Route Navigation you should look for Garmin StreetPilot C550. Except for being one of the fastest in its class, containing the whole of Europe in it, the most interesting part is that is is said to run unter linux.
