Email troubles

My private domain omat.nl was a catch-all domain, so any email addressed to the omat.nl domain was delivered to me. The day before yesterday I was welcomed with a few thousand bounces, so my domain was used for a spam run.

That meant I had to disable the catch-all function and only specify the addresses I really use. Unfortunately I forgot to add the address used for all kde related mail. So if you have sent a mail (private or on any list) and expect a reply from me, please send me a reminder.

  1. Hi Tom,

    You may want to:

    1) Filter daemon-sent email not addressed to any of the primary addresses you remember (that way, at worst, you’ll only miss bounces to one of your less used addresses).

    2) Install an SPF entry in your domain’s DNS zone.

I used to have troubles with joe jobs, like you, and using these two measures helped me tremendously. I’ve been able to keep my catch-all function on without trouble.

  2. Hi, yes, that are helpfull tips. I decided to remove the catch-all, because i fear it will be unmaintainable in the future anyways. Ah, well, email will stop to exist anyway in a few years ;-)
