In Aaron’s blog about easy building with git split modules, he closes with compliments to Michael Pyne. That’s exactly spot on and well deserved.

But the thing is, this feature was discussed a long time ago, see for example the famous sysadmin advice. The xml-file making it possible for kdesrc-build to work like it does was developed shortly after the first extragear applications started the migration to git.
